Going on A Bear Hunt.

Image
W ho would have ever thought that Maggie's all time favorite thing to do would be to sit on my lap and read..  Books are magical to our little girl. She begs for them "Read book, read book momma !!" The other day I read so many books to her my throat was hurting and so I suggested we go watch Doc McStuffins or Minnie Mouse ( her favorite shows) and she just cried to " Read more books".  Oh, how can a mom say no to that ?    I have organized most of her books in a little book shelf in her room.  She happily hand selects each book and runs back to my lap.  We put up the old rocker and replaced it with a comfy white slip-covered IKEA chair that looks so cute in her room.  Now we both can sit side by side or Maggie will snuggle on my lap.  I always make sure I am talking close to her BAHA hearing aid so she can get the best auditory response. We're Going on A Bear Hunt   has become one of her cherished books. I love this ed...

Life is Good.

Image
E very now and then Life slows down and we all go outside and just play.  That's when I grab my camera and try to get that all elusive group picture. I think I snapped a pretty good one this time -  everyone looking at the camera with decent fake smiles.    W e were so blessed to have Walker serenade us with his tuba while we played.   O ur sweet Maggie looks so grown up here. She LOVES being outside playing with her brothers. I look at her with wonder most of the time. She is an amazing girl and I feel so blessed to be her mom.  She makes people smile the biggest smile and is a living, breathing testimony of Redemption.   W hen Walker was just a little baby crawling around I knew that he needed a brother close in age to him. Will was born when Walker was just 22 months old. What a blessing these two brothers are to each other. I remember how hard it was when they were little and I had two in diapers and two little energetic boys runni...

Quick Summer Recap

Image
This summer Maggie learned to ride a bike and to swim- as in diving underwater and  everything ! Again, we were blown away by her ability to peddle and hold her breath and swim under water  ( not at the same time). She had an amazing babysitter this summer that took her swimming everyday - yes everyday !  She also fell in love with her pink goggles. We call her goggle girl ! We added a nice yard decoration this year - A huge soccer goal for the kids.   Everyone got a new soccer ball and we all enjoyed it !

Tinkertoys.

Image
Maggie found our Tinkertoy construction set that was hidden away in the playroom. ( Not sure why it was hidden?)  She knew exactly what to do.  It was the perfect toy for her little hands to explore and create. I wish I would have thought about sooner, but sadly I forgot about this classic toy.  It sure made me smile thinking about all the hours our boys played with them and now Maggie is enjoying them.  Love it ! This picture has nothing to do with Tinkertoys.  Just a Daddy that adores his little girl.

Speech/hearing Updates

Image
I thought it was about time for some updates on Maggie. Hearing Aid update :   Her BAHA hearing aid is working great. It has not broken at all which is amazing because Maggie is a three year old little girl that loves to play hard.  We just switched out her headband with a new black one.  The company that makes it (COCHLEAR) just starting selling the headband in new colors so we were happy to get a color that matches Maggie's hair a little better and does not stand out so much.  It also doesn't velcro like the old ones which is nice too.  Maggie's hearing is in the normal range with her hearing aid on and in the severe hearing loss range without it.  She loves it and asks for it immediately after her bath and in the morning.  If I have to change the battery, Maggie will get very agitated and upset that she can't put her hearing on right away. It really is a miracle ! In about a year and a half Maggie will have surg...

I Heart Camping.

Our Best Camping Vacation.

Image
This was our Beach House for five days. We stayed at the Topsail camp grounds in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.  It was beautiful and very kid friendly and we had so  much fun !   The fact that Maggie actually walked to the beach all by herself and was not clingy was a huge bonus. She really didn't walk, she ran to the beach with a huge smile on her face.  Made this beach loving mama so proud.   We visited Rosemary Beach one day. It is such a unique Beach town that is more like a European country outing with beautiful architecture and plenty of bike riding paths. In fact, everyone here rides bikes to the beach and little quaint restaurants.  Lots of cute shops.   And lots of great photo opportunities.   (If only my children didn't complain so much about having their picture taken. )   The weather was perfect, and my children played together all week on the beach.   These big shovels from Target were a hit !
